Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative

Dear Parents and Students,

We are excited to announce that Nevada City School District is joining a new statewide program that will help pave the way for sustained funding for mental health services for our students, as well as increase the services we are able to provide on school sites. We are in the first cohort of California districts and counties that have chosen to participate in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHl) Fee Service Program through the CA Department of Health Care Services. CYBHI creates a pathway for the districts in our county to seek reimbursement from commercial health insurance companies, along with MediCal, no cost to families.

Consent and health plan information is required in order for districts to seek reimbursement for qualifying wellness and behavioral health services. These services can include wellness activities, whole class social emotional curriculum, consultation, case management, peer mediation, crisis intervention, parent support, individual counseling, and group counseling.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your school or district office, as we will be happy to answer any questions and address any concerns. You may also contact the Nevada County Office of Education at [email protected].

The Nevada City School District CYBHI form can be found in your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
