Want to be a School Volunteer?
To help our schools be the best place for our children, please consider volunteering!
Signing up as a volunteer is easier than ever! Starting July 1, 2026, California regulations (under SB 848) require a streamlined process for all school volunteers.
To get started, simply complete Steps 1 and 2 below. Once your initial paperwork is received, the District Office will review your application details and contact you directly to guide you through Steps 3 and 4 if they apply to your volunteer role.
1. Submit the Volunteer Application Form: This collects your basic contact information.
2. Provide Active Tuberculosis TB Clearance: Provide official documentation verifying you are free of active Tuberculosis. This must be a TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire signed by a licensed healthcare provider or proof of a negative TB test administered within the past four years.
3. Complete Online Mandated Reporter Training:Under Senate Bill 848, volunteers are subject to annual mandated reporter and child abuse prevention training. Once the district office reviews your initial application, they will contact you directly with instructions and a link to complete the specific online training module required for your volunteer role.
4. Complete Background Check or Live Scan Fingerprinting: Depending on the level of student contact indicated on your application, a background check is required. The district office will review your application details and contact you to let you know if you need basic automated screening or if you must complete a formal Department of Justice (DOJ) / FBI Live Scan digital fingerprint clearance. If Live Scan is required, they will issue you the official paperwork and instructions.
